Overview

An advanced clinical pathway for evaluating adult cervical lymphadenitis and neck masses in the emergency and urgent ENT setting. The philosophy is fundamentally different from pediatrics: in children, reactive or infectious lymphadenopathy is common; in adults, especially patients over 40 years old or those with smoking/alcohol exposure or upper aerodigestive symptoms, any firm or persistent neck mass must be treated as metastatic carcinoma or malignancy until proven otherwise.
