Last Academic Update: May 2, 2026

Overview

A practical and academic ENT shift card for acute salivary gland swelling in the emergency department and clinic. The on-call decision is simple: restore salivary flow when the duct is blocked, treat infection when pus or systemic signs are present, and escalate early when there is trismus, floor-of-mouth swelling, sepsis, airway concern, or facial nerve involvement.
